21-day Therapeutic Writing Program
Time and date: from 15th September
Venue: online
Brilliant, it feels like removing an invisible piece of lint, then you realise it is a thread and when you start pulling, it will unravel, which can be annoying or relieving… or both. Thank you.” L.M.
We are going on a three-week adventure to discover different aspects of our lives. Through intuitive therapeutic writing we will dive deep into ourselves, climb faraway peaks, explore the unknown, and meet new points of view and perspectives. We’ll provoke, break taboos, look back to our comfort zones from afar, cry, laugh and rejoice together.
What is the Therapeutic Writing Program?
We are going on a three-week adventure to discover different aspects of our lives. Through intuitive therapeutic writing we will dive deep into ourselves, climb faraway peaks, explore the unknown, and meet new points of view and perspectives. We’ll provoke, break taboos, look back to our comfort zones from afar, cry, laugh and rejoice together.
We will meet and discover the most vulnerable areas of our lives more deeply and from more different aspects than before; pushing their limits, meeting painful and joyful memories, and getting to know new sources of joy—ourselves.
We’ll take our experiences, ambitions, curiosity and fantasy, and play with them in new situations every day for three weeks.
You don’t have to share what you write but sharing is always welcome. When we write and share it with the others, we receive feedback, external validation, and we can feel that we are not alone, how similar joys and pains we live with. We’ll meet new points of view, which helps with processing our own issues, and at the same time we can gain insights into our feelings, memories and emotions without having to feel emotionally overwhelmed.
What happens when we write?
Writing is much more practical for structuring and creating objectivity. As soon as we write something down, we also face self-criticism about it: we’ll be able to see our experience from the outside. Writing as an activity has in itself a structuring effect and as such helps with realising causal links, interpreting events occurring inside and around us. That is why journaling is often recommended during self-development therapies, which could be quite difficult to do with no continuous motivation but it is rather effective.
According to those participating at therapeutic writing programs as a result of writing their attention extends more to circumstances, they feel more compassionate with themselves, see themselves less in victim roles, and they can look forward to the future more openly and trusting after the exercises. Many of them have more self-respect since they appreciate their having coped with their difficult situations in the past.
If you like writing, if you would like to write but dare not, if you believe only the „special ones” can write, and you have 30 minutes daily for three weeks that you would be happy to spend with yourself playing, letting your fantasy roam, then this program is for you, and we are happy to see you there.
How does it work?
The program has two layers. The first one is the surface, here we play, write the assignment of the day, and spend about 30 minutes of quality time a day with ourselves.
The deeper level appears almost imperceptibly during writing as we let ourselves into the thoughts, sensations, feelings, emotions and memories which the topic and its processing bring up. Here a sort of dialogue may develop with our different inner parts, wounds, which can heal through the writing process, and doors may open to new opportunities.
The program is conducted in a private facebook group where I will be present and gently guiding the participants.
I believe in group energy and supporting each other but the writings will not have to be shared (though letting the group know it is done is a must).
The daily assignment will be shared early morning every day, you will have until the end of the day to complete it.
There will be different topics to process and write about, surprising and unexpected ones. If some of them triggers you, be happy it means it touched upon some of your traumas, and you can do something about it. You might feel resistance too, if you feel you don’t want to write about something, you can find wonderful treasures there.
When and how?
The maximum number of participants: 30.
We start on 15th September and the last assignment will be published on 5th October.
The program will start and finish with a Zoom talk, details will be sent for participants.
If you prefer, you can use a notebook but it is also totally good to type your stories in your laptop.
You are free to write whenever you want during the day, just finish it by midnight.
Please join only if you can commit to yourself, and will spend time with yourself every day, do the daily assignments, and let us know when it is done. Sharing is more than welcome.
Feel free to contact us about any questions you might have.
A little introductory game for warmup:
Make a coffee/tea or maybe open a bottle of wine, and start writing.
Describe your bedroom from the point of view of a stranger who had to stay there for a week.
Feedback from earlier programs:
I’ve come to this program to integrate writing in my everyday life. This three weeks was very useful for me, I realized how deeply layered each writing is. That a story is not only fascinating because of its message but following the feelings appearing I find myself too.
Thank you Zsolt for the inspiration, support and your attention. What you have created is fantastic.” K.A.
I loved the program very much, the diverse topics day by day, each gave me food for thought. I managed to start my journey inside. A brilliant yield is that both my points of view and my reactions have changed, which I could see in the people around me too. I have more clarity about situations as they are, not as I1d like them to be. I see myself more valuable than before. Thank you, it was really exciting.” V.G.
I feel I received more than I thought during this three weeks. My main goal was to get to know myself so that I can step forward on my inner journey. During the program I learnt how to recognize when a blockage appears, and now I can handle these consciously. I really loved meeting points of view different from my own, and shape my thinking through them. I liked the athmosphere of the group, I dare to be open in a group and be myself again. It was good to be here. Thank you.” H.E.
